CLINICOPATHOLGIC ANALYSIS OF CYLINDROMATOUS ADENOCARCINOMA OF MINOR SALIVARY GLAND

  • Thirty-six cases y lindromatous adenocarcinoma of minor salivary gland arising in the head and neck region were analysed. These malignant tumors arepainless and slow-growing masses and stubborn tendency of recurrence, but the pa-ients often lived with persistent tumor for several years. The clasical histopathologic features is "cribriform" pattern. Although histopa-thologically the tumors could be classified into cribriform and solid pattern, the re-lation between histologic pattern and prognosis was not quite evident. The most im-portant factor dealt with prognosis was provided with the negative or positive mar-gin of resection. The postulation about the origin of the "tiny cyst" and "tubular"lesion in the tumor cell nests was made.
