  • patients with esophageal cancer were randomized into two groups from 1985 to 1988. of whom, 53 patients were treated by radiation plas ping xiao piece (Group 1) and the other 53 patients by radiation alone (Group 2). Tumor dose of 65～70Gy Was given to Group 1 and Group 2. By mouth, 6 Piece each time, threr times daily, It be used with along the radiotherapy in group 1.The 5-year follow up rate was 94. 3% in group 1 and 92. 4% in group 2. The 1-, 5, 5-year survival rate was 49. 0%, 32. 1 % and 18. 9% in group 1, 39. 6%, 17. 0% and 9. 4% in group 2 (P 0. 05), respectively.
