Leiomyosarcoma or the rectum (Report of 6 cases and review of 72 cases)

Six cases of leiomyosarcoma of the rectum are reported with a review of 72 cases reported from 1949 through 1993 in our courtry. The diseas is rare'.Forty-five patients were males and 33 females.The rarge of the age was 1 -79 years.The main clinical manfestation consisted of rectal pain (55.1%),constipation (53.8%),rectal bleeding(37.2%),distortion of feces(35.9%),diarrhea(16.7 %),dysuria(5.1%).97.4% patients underwent surgical operation. Finally,the incidence,pathology,diagnosis method and treatment of the leiomyosarcoma of the rectum are discussed with a review of literature.
