Radiotherapy for Carcinoma of the Esophagus in the Elderly Patients

Esophagus cancer in 46 elderly patients were treated by radiotherapy from 1983 to 1993.Stage of Ⅲ and Ⅳ were 82 6%.The were 47 8% of the esophageal carcinoma accompanied by the other diseases in the elderly patients.The overall survival rates of 1、3、5 years were 45 7%、22 7%、11 9%,respectively.The preliminary results shown that radiotherapy was safe and effective for esophageal cancer in the elderly patients.
