  • Objective To detect the telomerase activity of cells in pleural effusionecl to provide scientific basis for differential diagnosis. Methods Harvesting the cells in all kinds of pleural effusionecl and detect the telomerase activity by TRAP-ELISA. Results Cells in pleural effusion of heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, chronic renal failure, pneumonia and tuberculosis cannot be detected for telomerase activity, for malignant pleural effusion,91.42% were telomerase positive.
