Expression of BMP-2, OPN and VEGF and Their Clinical Significance in Osteosarcoma with Lung Metastasis

  • Objective To investigate the expression of BMP-2, Of osteopontin (OPN) and VEGF in osteosarcoma and its association with lung metastasis. Methods Immunohistochemical staining (SABC method) was used to investigate BMP-2, OPN and VEGF expression in 53 cases of osteosarcoma which had complete follow up data. Results BMP-2, OPN and VEGF expression was all located in the cytoplasm of osteosarcoma cell. The positive rates of BMP-2, OPN and VEGF in osteosarcoma tissue were 62. 26 %, 50. 94 % and 67. 92 %, respectively. The positive rates of BMP22, OPN and VEGF in osteosarcoma tissue with lung metastasis were 92. 3 %(12/ 13), 76. 92 %(10/ 13) and 92. 3 %(12/ 13), respectively, which were much higher than that in osteosarcoma tissue without lung metastasis. BMP-2, OPN and VEGF positive was remarkably correlated the and lung metastasis in osteosarcoma. ( P < 0. 05) . The intensity signal of BMP-2, OPN and VEGF weren't related to gender, age, size and location of tumor, time of illness, osteosarcoma classification, while they were correlated with lung metastasis. Conclusion BMP-2, OPN and VEGF are express in osteosarcoma cell. The high expression involve in the carcinogenesis and the development of osteosarcoma and correlated closely to the lung metastasis of osteosarcoma. The expression of BMP-2 is closely correlated to that of OPN and VEGF.
