Imagelogical Diagnosis of Chondroma and Chondrosarcoma of Intracrania Basis Report of 7 Cases

  • Objective To improve diagnostic level, imagelogical features of chondroma and chondrosarcoma of intracrania basis were analyzed. Methods Plain radiograph and CT of skull, cerebral angiography and MRI features were analyzed in 7 cases with chondroma and chondrosarcoma verified by operative pathology. Results 1.Plain radiograph and CT of skull:In saddle zone cotton-ball-like high-density calcificative mass was found in 2,low intensive calcification in 1,isoindensity and high intensity in 4,and inhomogeneous density after enhancement in 5.2.Cerebral angiography:Artria carotic intena, arteria cerebri media and arteria ceriebri anterior were crushed out of position in 2.The tumor was negative for staining.3.MRI:Inhomogeneous low signal and inhomogeneous intensification were showed on T1-weighted images and inhomogeneous high signal was seen on T2-weighted images in 4.Operative pathological diagnosis:6 cases were diagnosed as chondromas,1 case as chondrosarcoma. Conclusion It is easy to diagnose chondromas which was in saddle-side middle cranial fossa with calcification in plain radiograph and CT of skull. It will be helpful to the atypical cases when MRI or DSA cerebral angiography was done.
