Current Status and Challenges of Treatment on Colorectal Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis with Ovarian Metastasis

  • Peritoneum is the common site of colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis. Female CRC patients with peritoneal metastases are often accompanied by ovarian metastases. It is generally believed that female colorectal cancer with peritoneal and ovarian metastases progress rapidly and have a very poor prognosis, and there is still no effective treatment at present. Although chemotherapy and targeted drugs could significantly improve the prognosis of colorectal cancer patients, there was no significant benefit in colorectal cancer patients with both peritoneal and ovarian metastases. Many studies have demonstrated that CRS combined with HIPEC can prolong the survival and improve the quality of life of these patients. This article reviews the current status of diagnosis and treatment and research progress of peritoneal and ovarian metastases in colorectal cancer.
