Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of NF-κB and Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and radiosensitivity in human gliomas. Methods The expression of NF-κB and EGFR in 82 cases of gliomas and 5 cases of normal brain tissues were studied by immunohistochemical method of SABC. Results None of the normal tissue exhibited NF-κB and EGFR. The expression both NF-κB and EGFR was significantly increased in ascending order from medulloblastoma, ependymoma, oligodendroglioma, low and high grade astrocytoma, and glioblastoma multiforme. Conclusion The positive expression rate of NF-κB and EGFR proteins were correlated with radiosensitivity of gliomas. They might serve as indicator of radiosensitivity in human gliomas.
