Instructions for Authors
  • Journal of Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment is a professional academic journal about cancer research, supervised by Health Commission of Hubei Province, and hosted by Hubei Cancer Hospital and Chinese Anti-cancer Association.
    The purpose of the journal is to "promote domestic and overseas academic exchanges in the field of cancer, and serve the development of cancer discipline in China"It is the journal about cancer research with the longest history in China, mainly publishing the latest theory, research results, technology and progress in all areas related to basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It mainly faces research-oriented readers and professional medical staff in cancer research.
    All manuscripts related to basic research, clinical research, clinical diagnosis, clinical application, epidemiologic, research briefings, technical communications, short article, case report and news, etc.(Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Epidemiology, Pathology, Immunotherapy, etc.) are welcome. Review articles and thematic forums are mainly from invited authors.
    Manuscript Requirements
    1.General Requirements
    The work reported in the manuscripts shall be advanced, scientifically sound and practical. The manuscript shall have authentic materials, reliable data, sharp-cut contentions, outstanding emphases, clear arrangements, concise words and objective conclusion. The original article shall not exceed 5,000 words, while the short article and case report shall not exceed 1,500 words. The format of all manuscripts shall comply with the relevant provisions of Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journal ( drawn up by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
    Any funding that supports the subject involved in this manuscript shall be indicated at the left corner of the first page, like “Supported by: National Natural Science Foundation of China(Foundation No.)”; “The 10th Five-Years Programs for Science and Technology Development of China (Project No.)”. Please also attach the copy of funding certificate with the cover letter of manuscript.
    All manuscripts shall have titles in both Chinese and English. The title shall be as concise and definite as possible, generally not exceeding 20 Chinese characters, and limiting the use of subtitles.
    4.Author and Work Unit
    All authors shall provide their Chinese and English names as well as the work unit names. The authors’ names shall be arranged in sequence under the title. The number of authors as well as the arrangement order shall be confirmed before the submission of manuscript. There will be no any change during the compiling. The Chinese unit name (including department, city and postal code) shall be footnoted at the lower left of the first page. If the authors are from different units, please mark different sequence number at the upper right corner of each author’s name. The introduction of the first author and corresponding author shall be footnoted at the lower left of the first page, which shall contain such items and be marked in the format as follows: name (birth year), gender, education background, title, main research interest and E-mail. The corresponding author should have vice-senior title or above, or the qualification of graduate student supervisor or project leader.
    The original articles and reviews shall have Chinese abstracts as well as the corresponding English translation. The abstract of original articles shall be structurally arranged, including four parts as objective, methods, results (the major data and statistical results shall be available) and conclusion. Each part has a corresponding title. The abstract of reviews shall be non-structurally arranged. Please write the abstract in third person. The English abstract shall comply with the customary e_x_p_r+e_s_s_i_o_n of English for Science and Technology, and should include tile, author name (in Chinese pinyin), unit name, city, postal code and country. All authors’ names shall be listed out in the English abstract. The family name shall be in capital letters and be placed before the given name. The words in given name shall have “-” between them, such as “LIN Gui-miao”. The Chinese abstract shall have 200 – 300 words, while the English abstract shall have 300 – 400 substantives.
    6.Key words
    All manuscripts shall have 3~8 keywords. Please use, if possible, the words listed in the latest edition Index Medicus Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) edited by National Library of Medicine. The Chinese translation could be decided with reference to Medical Subject Heading Annotated Alphabetic List compiled by Institute of Medical Information, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. If there is no corresponding word in the latest edition MeSH, refer to following methods: (1) select several closely-related subject headings; (2) select the most direct subject headings according to the tree structure table; (3) use the customary free words when necessary, and place them at the end. The abbreviations in keywords shall use its corresponding full name according to MeSH. For example, “HBsAg” shall be written as “Hepatitis B Surface Antigen”. The first letter of English keywords shall be capitalized, and the keywords shall be separated by semicolon.
    7.Body Requirement
    Generally, the articles related to basic research, clinical research, clinical diagnosis, clinical application, epidemiology, short article, technical communication and research notes shall have four parts of “Introduction”, “Materials and Methods”, “Results” and “Discussion”.
    7.1 Introduction
    The introduction shall provide a brief statement of the background of the subject, research status at home and abroad, topic basis and purpose, research plan, expected result and academic value, generally not exceeding 300 words.
    7.2 Materials and Methods
    The materials should be complete enough to allow others to verify them repeatedly. Those conventional methods that have been recorded in previous documents could be cited through brief description rather than repeating them again. The improvement and creation shall be amplified. The clinical trials shall indicate the standard for selection and elimination of subjects, blinding methods as well as how to carry out the principles of “random, control, repeat, and equilibrium”. Please clearly declare the name, source, dose and route of administration of drug and reagent, and specify the statistical method as well as the name and version of statistical software.
    7.3 Results
    The results shall be relative to the work involved in materials and methods, and stress the major and most important findings. The results could be expressed in one form of character, table and figure, but never use them repeatedly. Please truthfully and accurately describe the research results and data (provide absolute value), and try to quantify the results. All data must be processed with correct statistics. The descriptive statistics, detective statistics and P value shall be available.
    7.4 Discussion
    The discussion shall be focused on the research objective in the introduction, and expand a deep discussion centering on the results, rather than just repeating them. The author shall compare their findings with the similar research, and explain the difference, rather than just review the literature. Moreover, the author shall put emphasis on demonstration of innovative points of research as well as the new viewpoints and findings based on them, and put forward appreciate objective conclusion with sufficient basis.
    8.Medical Terminology
    Subject to Medical Terminology published by Science Press, verified and promulgated by China National Committee for Terms in Sciences and Technologies in 2002 and afterward, as well as the nouns of relevant subjects. The unpublished ones could refer to the subject headings in latest edition Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), Medical Subject Headings Annotated Alphabetic List and Chinese Medical Subject Headings. The terminology which has no general translated terms and appears in the text for the first time shall be indicated with the original word. The Chinese drug name shall use the ones in the latest edition Chinese Approved Drug Names (for legal drug) or Drug Name Vocabulary (for non-legal drug) edited by China Pharmacopoeia Committee. The English drug name shall use the international nonproprietary name for pharmaceutical substances, rather than trade name. If essential, please indicate its general name.
    Abbreviations shall be used as few as possible in the text. If required, the full term shall be presented at the first time it occurs which is followed by abbreviations or English term and abbreviations in bracket. If the abbreviation is known to all, it is no necessary to indicate the English name such as DNA、RNA, etc. There shall be no line-transfer for the abbreviation.
    10.Figures and Tables
    Each figure (or table) shall have both Chinese and English titles, and all items in the figure shall be written in English. The descriptive information shall be placed in the Note under the figure (or table) and written in English. The Note shall indicate the abbreviations of all non-common words used in the figure (or table). Our journal adopts three-line table (top line, column line and bottom line). The data in table requires that the same index shall have the same effective bits, which are generally confirmed as 1/3 of the standard deviation. Electrophoresis photograph indicated with molecular weight shall be available for any papers about the molecular biology.
    The photograph shall have good definition and contrast ratio. The original image should be offered with 200dpi resolution. For photographs of person, the author shall obtain written permission from the subject, or mask the parts which could make the person identifiable. Big sample image shall have scale, and the pathological image shall be indicated with the staining method and amplification. The figure cited from other journals shall have its source indicated and get the copyright permission.
    11.Measurement Unit
    Subject to Application of Legal Metrological Unit in Laboratory Medicine compiled by Chinese Medical Association Publishing House. The usage of measurement unit must be normative, and it’s better to use the international unit. The unit symbol shall be straight while the amount unit shall be italic.
    12.Statistical Symbol
    Comply with the regulations of GB 3358-1982 Statistics Vocabulary and Symbols. In the writing, please pay attention to that whether these letters are in English or Greek, capitalization or lower-case, as well as the stamp on top of the letter and the superscript and subscript. All statistical symbols shall be italic.
    Carry out the GB/T 15835-1995 General Rules for Writing Numerals in Publications. Century, year, month, day, time, counting and measurement shall be expressed in Arabic numerals.
    The items and content quoted in the references must be verified correct with the original texts. It’s better to select the latest references published within the past 3 – 5 years. Generally speaking, the unpublished articles shall not be cited by the author. The references shall be complied in sequential coding format according to GB/T 7714-2005 Rules for Content, Form and Structure of Bibliographic References, that’s, to mark it with Arabic numerals in superscript bracket according to the sequence. Meanwhile, the references are listed at the end of article according to the citation sequence in Arabic numerals. The first three authors’ names shall be listed. If more than 3, just list the former 3 ones, followed by “,”, “等” in Chinese or “, et al” in English. The abbreviation s in foreign journals shall be subject to Index Medicus ( complied by National Library of Medicine, while the Chinese journals shall use the full name. All Chinese references shall have corresponding English translation as follows.

    Manuscripts Submission
    The manuscript shall be submitted online via our website Click the “Manuscript Submission / Status Inquiry”, and create an account to submit the manuscript and check the processing status. Once successfully submitting the manuscript online, the author will receive the Notification for Receipt by E-mail from the editorial office, and be notified whether his manuscript has been accepted or not, and also, if any, the manuscript Number. The author should also mail the following materials to the editorial office: (1) Cover letter, which shall declare the authenticity of the manuscript, no submission to other journals, no secrecy and no dispute on authorship, and be stamped by the Scientific Research Management Department; (2) Certificate for Ethics (if applicable); (3) Certificate for Foundation Support (if any). Please contact the editorial office for more help. 
    Processing of Manuscripts
    1.The author shall be responsible for the authenticity and scientificity of manuscript. The editorial office reserves the right to alter or abridge the manuscript under the Copyright Law of The People’s Republic of China. However, revisions which will change the original opinions need to be permitted by the authors. No response on the revision advice after two months will be deemed to automatically withdraw the manuscript, and the editorial office will no longer accept it.
    2.If there is no processing result of the manuscript after two months since the day when the author received our notification for receipt, it may be still under review. However, the author may refer to the editorial office for more details. If the author wishes to submit the manuscript to other journals, he is obliged to contact the editorial office in advance to avoid the duplicate submissions.
    3.Journal of Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment has been embodied by several databases at home and abroad. All manuscripts accepted by us will be published in paper and online.
    Publication charges 
    This journal is free of manuscript review fee. As "Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment" is an OA journal, according to international practice, a certain fee is charged for the articles confirmed to be published. The specific provisions are as follows: 500 yuan/page, and another 500 yuan/article for the articles with color pictures. The fees for excellent manuscripts shall be reduced or exempted as appropriate. Those who do not pay the fee after receiving the payment notice for more than three months will be deemed to withdraw the manuscript automatically, and the editorial department will no longer accept this manuscript in the future. After the publication of the manuscript, the author shall receive the remuneration (including the remuneration for publication in other forms) and two copies of the current magazine.
